Comal, Canyon Parks Move to Off-Season Hours, WORD Warns Boat Ramp #18 Headed for Closure

The Water Oriented District of Comal County (WORD), which operates Comal and Canyon parks in Canyon Lake, today announced the parks’ hours of operation will move to an off-season schedule.

Starting Tuesday, Comal Park will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with last entry allowed at 4:30 p.m. Hours for Canyon Park (main) are 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. seven days a week. Last entry is allowed at 4 p.m.

Swim beaches #1 and #2 in Canyon Park are closed.

WORD also warned it is monitoring Boat Ramp #18 in Canyon Park. The ramp is approaching the recommended low-water closure guideline of 883 feet. Today’s lake level is 883.89 feet.

On Facebook, WORD recommended against inboard motors or trailers over 25 feet in length.

Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) is a park-and-recreation district created by the Texas Legislature in 1987 and voted for by the residents of Comal County in 1988.

The district encompasses Canyon Lake and over 30 miles of floatable water on the Guadalupe River above and below Canyon Lake. It exists within Comal County north of highway 46 to the west beginning at Guadalupe River State Park and runs east to the New Braunfels city limits.
