Comal County Commissioners Court on Tuesday approved an $84.02 million budget for 2017, a 5.8-percent increase over the 2016 budget.

The 2017 budget includes 10 new positions — seven of them in a new road-paving crew — as well as $2.5 million in equipment for the Sheriff’s Office and $2.1 million in equipment for the Road and Bridge Department.

The new positions will bring to Comal County’s total number of full-time employees to 649.

“I’m proud that by working together, we were able to approve a budget for 2017 that meets the county’s needs while being good stewards of the taxpayers’ money,” Krause says.

The approved budget is $50,000 less than Judge Krause’s original proposal.
