Campaign season officially kicked off Monday, Dec. 8, the filing deadline for local candidates who want their names to appear on ballots in the Nov. 3, 2026 general election.
Notably absent on the official list are County Judge Sherman Krause, Comal County Precinct 2 Commissioner Scott Haag and County Clerk Bobbie Koepp, who decided not to seek reelection.
County Tax Assessor-Collector Kristen Hoyt resigned from her position to run for county judge. Commissioners appointed Stuart Hansmann to serve out her remaining term. He now seeks to make it a permanent position and is running unopposed.
County District Attorney Jennifer Tharp said she will seek a fifth term.
The Texas Secretary of State website, which lists candidates, was not working today. This list derives from official spreadsheets provided by a Republican Party member.
The names of candidates who are uncontested will not appear on the March 3 ballot.
