Comal County closed its COVID-19 vaccine standby list today after 12,000 anxious residents signed up in less than 24 hours.
The county made the announcement on Facebook.
Those who managed to register will be contacted with appointment information as more vaccine becomes available, the county said. The standby list could reopen again in the future depending on the availability of vaccine.
On Tuesday, County Judge Sherman Krause warned although the county expects to receive weekly vaccine allocations but does not know how many vaccines it will receive.
“That decision is made by the state on a weekly basis,” Krause said. “This standby list will give people who have expressed interest in receiving the vaccines a way to sign up. As we get more supply, we’ll use this list to schedule residents for appointments.”
