Comal County Confirms COVID-19 Death of New Braunfels Man in His 60s

Comal County today confirmed the COVID-19 death of a New Braunfels man in his 60s.

The man passed away Dec. 8 at a New Braunfels hospital.

In a statement, the county also reported 17 new cases of the virus, bringing the total to 20,465 since March 2020.

The total number of deceased is now 471.

On Thursday, county hospitals reported caring for eight COVID-19 patients. Three are in intensive care and one is on a ventilator. None of these patients are vaccinated. Not all COVID-positive patients are necessarily county residents.

Some 61.02% of county residents are fully vaccinated.

The Public Health Department is administering Moderna COVID-10 vaccines for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five and older.

Those who are high risk and qualify for a third dose or a booster also can call to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
