Comal County Fair and Rodeo Canceled over COVID-19 Concerns

Share

Comal County Fair Association (CCFA) President Charles Wimberley said the board is canceling the 2020 Comal County Fair and Rodeo, scheduled from Sept. 23-27.

“Much thought and discussion have occurred these past several months as we optimistically planned to host a secure event while maintaining the integrity of both the fair and rodeo we love,” he posted on Facebook late this evening.

The annual fair and rodeo is the largest in Central Texas.

CCFA said it made the decision in the best interest of the health and safety of its volunteers, vendors and patrons.

Wimberley said CCFA has promoted agricultural pursuits along with “benevolent and civic support” for 127 years.

“At this time, we must hold true to these values to preserve our heritage while staying committed to protecting our community and future fairs,” he said.

On June 29, CCFA canceled its 17th Annual BBQ Cookoff, scheduled for Sept. 18-20.
