Historical Society Wins Award

The Texas Historical Commission has honored its Comal County counterpart with a 2015 Distinguished Service Award for its “dedicated service and stewardship of Texas’ unique cultural and historic sites.”
The award was presented to the Comal County Historical Commission during the July 7 meeting of Comal County Commissioners Court.
The state commission recognized the local historical group for its stewardship of unique cultural and historic sites in Texas.
“County historical commissions are the backbone of historic preservation and education in communities across Texas,” said THC Executive Director Mark Wolfe. “The Texas Historical Commission is proud to recognize the exceptional efforts of the Comal County Historical Commission in appreciation of its high level of performance in 2015.”
The 22-member Comal County Historical Commission board is appointed by the Commissioners Court and is charged with documenting and preserving the county’s historical heritage. Its website is co.comal.tx.us/CCHC.htm.
