Comal County Reports 24 New COVID-19 Cases Monday as Bexar County Confirms Two Cases of Omicron Variant

Comal County reported 24 new COVID-19 cases on Monday while San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg confirmed the first two cases of the Omicron variant in San Antonio.

There are no confirmed cases of the Omicron variant in Comal County.

The county’s total COVID-19 case count since March 2020 is now 20,513.

No deaths were reported today. The number of deceased remains 472.

On Monday, Comal County hospitals reported caring for three COVID-19 patients. Of those, two are in intensive care and one is on a ventilator. Approximately 100% of these patients are unvaccinated. Not all COVID-positive patients hospitalized in Comal County are necessarily county residents.

Comal County’s Public Health Department is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five years and up. Those who are high risk and qualify for a third dose or booster also can call to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
