Comal County health officials today confirmed another fox found within New Braunfels city limits has tested positive for rabies.
This marks the 24th confirmed case of rabies so far this year, the highest number since 2018.
The public is warned not to approach or hand-feed wild animals like foxes, raccoons, bats or skunks as they may carry rabies.
Officials urge residents to keep their pets vaccinated, secure food and trash in sealed containers to avoid attracting wild animals, avoid bats, seek medical attention for bites/scratches, report unusual animal behavior and avoid touching sick or injured animals.
Symptoms of rabies in wild animals include paralysis, staggering, unnatural aggression or tameness.
