Comal County reported its 472nd COVID-19 death today.

A New Braunfels man in his 80s died Dec. 3 at a New Braunfels hospital.

In a statement, the county also confirmed 24 new COVID-19 cases.

County hospitals are caring for seven COVID-19 patients. One of those is in intensive care and one is on a ventilator. None of these patients are vaccinated. Not all COVID-positive patients hospitalized in Comal County are necessarily residents.

Some 61.10% of county residents are fully vaccinated (two shots).

The Public Health Department is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five years and older.

Those who are high risk and qualify for a third dose or a booster also can call to schedule an appointment.

The number is 830-221-1150.
