Comal County waived registration fees for dogs and cats beginning Jan. 1.
To register a pet visit SOANIMALCONTROL@CO.COMAL.TX.US and submit a valid rabies certificate or stop by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), 3005 W. San Antonio St., New Braunfels. For more information call 830-608-2016.
CCSO Crime Prevention Specialist Jakob Willman said order #171 for rabies and control, was updated by Commissioners Court on Oct, 24, 2024 to include free registration.
Comal County Public Information Officer Cary Zayas said the fee was waived in hope of getting more residents to register pets.
“It’s definitely a win-win kind of situation,” she said. “If a pet gets loose or lost, Animal Control can easily get a registered pet back to its owner instead of taking the pet to a shelter…and we definitely want more pets vaccinated against rabies.”
