Comal DA Announces 13 Criminal Convictions Including Registered Sex Offender from Canyon Lake

A Canyon Lake man who is a registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal history pleaded guilty to drug possession and endangering a child and was sentenced to 25 years in prison by Judge Gary Steel of the 274th District Court, the Comal County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement today.

No date was provided.

Lucas Wolfe, 47, was arrested in February 2024 after New Braunfels police received a call about a five-year-old child alone in a parking lot at Zaxby’s Chicken.

The child’s mother was found inside a nearby Texas Med Clinic undergoing a urinalysis. She left the child unattended in a car with Wolfe, who was passed out in the vehicle until awakened by law enforcement.

During a search officers discovered a syringe and methamphetamine located near the child’s car seat.

Also sentenced recently was David Hawkins, 59, of Canyon Lake, who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, burglary of habitation, and two charges of possession of meth.

He was sentenced to 27 years in jail by Judge Steel after he was “enhanced” to a habitual offender due to prior criminal history.

Other offenders include:

  • Darrell Watts, 28, of Houston, who pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and received a 25-year sentence from visiting Judge Amanda Montgomery.
  • Andres Corona, 40, of New Braunfels, who pleaded guilty to assault family violence by impeding breath or circulation and received a seven-year sentence from Judge Tracie Wright-Reneau of the 207th District Court.
  • William White, 40, of Seguin, who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and was sentenced to 14 years in prison by Judge Bruce Boyer of the 22nd District Court. He also received a 10-year sentence for unlawful possession of a firearm. Those sentences will run concurrently.
  • Michael Deluna, 53, of Austin, who pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated with two or more previous convictions and was sentenced to 40 years in prison by Judge Wright-Reneau.
  • Aureliano Sumale, 37, of Seguin, who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence and was sentenced to eight years in prison by Judge Montgomery.
  • Milon Frith, 27, of Bulverde, who pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm and was sentenced by visiting Judge Glen Devlin to four years in prison.
  • Grayson Vanblaricum, 33, of Austin, who pleaded guilty to assault family violence by impeding breath or circulation and bail jumping-failure to appear and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
  • Christopher Ford, 37, of Bryan, who pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 12 years in prison by Judge Steel.
  • Joann Morphis, 60, of New Braunfels, who pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and bail jumping-failure to appear and was sentenced to seven years in prison by Judge Bruce Boyer of the 22nd District Court. She also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.
  • Jesse Mark Abel Rodriguez, 57, of Lockhart, who pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 30 years in prison by Judge Wright-Reneau. He was “enhanced” to habitual offender due to prior criminal history.
  • Deanna Kovacevich, 43, of Hitchcock, who pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 12 years in prison by Judge Wright-Reneau. She also received a 10-year sentence for bail jumping. The sentences will be served concurrently.
