Comal ISD Reports Eight Cases of COVID-19 on Sept. 1
Share

Mountain Valley Elementary School said in an email to parents today that three members of its “campus community” experienced COVID-19 symptoms while in the building and were isolated before leaving campus.
Pieper Ranch Middle School parents received the same email on Tuesday. Church Hill Middle School parents also were notified that two more members of its campus community began experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms while in the building.
Those who reported symptoms will be required to stay home until they meet one of these criteria:
- 24 hours-fever free
- Improvement in symptoms
- 10 days since symptoms began or
- Until they receive an alternative diagnosis from a medical professional.
Both schools report conducting deep cleanings of the areas of campus where those individuals spent time.
Comal ISD does not make these emails publicly available. Please send a copy of your schools’ emails to info@mycanyonlake.com so that we can accurately report on possible outbreaks in Comal ISD schools.

DEFINITIONS:
Current active positive cases — lab-confirmed positive case is an individual who receives a positive test result
Current active symptomatic cases — experiencing symptoms including feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100-degrees Fahrenheit; loss of taste or smell, cough, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath; fatigue; headache; chills; sore throat, congestion or runny nose; shaking or exaggerated shivering; significant muscle pain or ache; diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.
Current active exposure to a positive case — close contact with a lab-confirmed case is defined as either of the following occurring at any time in the last 14 days when the infected individual was infectious 1. being directly exposed to fluids from the mouth or nose, such as being coughed on or 2. being within six feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes; individuals are presumed infectious at least two days prior to symptom onset or, in the case of asymptomatic individuals who are lab-confirmed with COVID-19, two days prior to the confirming lab test.
