Comal ISD Supt. Andrew Kim said the district is awaiting guidance from the Texas Education Agency about how to manage other issues like graduations, yearbook distribution, and retrieving personal items from campus.

Comal ISD Supt. Andrew Kim confirmed today that district schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

His announcement followed Friday’s executive order from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

“For Comal ISD, this means we will continue with our Comal Continues: Home Learning Opportunities/Residence Learning Program through Seesaw and Google Classroom, and paper packets for those who need them until the end of the school year, which is May 28,” Kim said in an email to parents and guardians. “In addition, we will continue with our meal distribution at our 10 locations, and provide technology devices to those who need them through our Technology Checkout Program at 830-221-2690.”

He said the district is awaiting guidance from the Texas Education Agency about how to manage other issues like graduations, yearbook distribution, and retrieving personal items from campus.

“In the meantime, please encourage your children to stay engaged and participate in the RLP, and know that our teachers, administrators and staff are here for you,” Kim said. “I am grateful for all of the work they have done, and to you for the support you have provided during this unprecedented time.”
