Comal River Reopens for Recreation

In a statement on its Facebook page, New Braunfels Police Department announced Comal River reopened at 10 a.m. for most forms of recreation.

Tubing is now allowed.

As of this morning, river flow is at 400cfs, considered perfect for tubing.

City of New Braunfels cleared out debris and repaired walkways and railings at Tube Chute Dam.

River-goers are urged to watch out for debris that may not be visible.

Meanwhile, the release date from Canyon Dam was increased to over 3400cfs, making water flow on the Guadalupe River inside New Braunfels city limits too fast for most forms of recreation.

This includes tubing, rafting and kayaking.

Guided trips are still allowed — contact local river outfitters for details.

Once Canyon Lake is brought back to its normal level of 909 feet about sea level, the Guadalupe River’s flow will recede and more recreational opportunities will be allowed.
