Comal River Reopens at 2 p.m. as Flow Rates Return to Safe Levels

New Braunfels Police Department will reopen the Comal River for all recreation at 2 p.m. today.
Heavy rains forced closure of the river, as rates exceeded 400 cubic feet per second (cfs).
Flow rates are safe again, and the clarity of the water is returning to normal. City staff cleaned up debris along the riverbanks and at the Tube Chute Dam.
River-goers are urged to remain cautious about debris that may not be visible under the water’s surface. Life vests are encouraged.
The Guadalupe River inside city limits was not affected by recent rains, and remains open for recreation.
