Comal County Judge Sherman Krause will whittle some $112 million in budget requests down into a formal 2019 budget to be submitted at Commissioners Court on Aug. 1.

Comal County Commissioners broke out what they describe as “the world’s largest three-ring binders” at a public hearing Thursday, July 11, kicking off the 2020 budget process.

County department heads and elected officials present their requests for funding at the meeting.

County Judge Sherman Krause will now whittle down about $112 million of these requests into a formal, proposed budget that will be presented at Commissioners Court on Thursday, Aug. 1.

Final approval follows on Aug. 29 after a series of public hearings and votes.

Commissioner also will discuss the tax rate and schedule public hearings, culminating in final approval on Sept. 19.
