County Announces Further Closures, Including Courthouse
The historic courthouse and other Comal County offices are closing to foot traffic in an effort to protect the public and county employees from potential exposure to the novel coronavirus, Comal County said in a press release today.
The County Clerk’s Office also has closed to public traffic, and the Tax Office will not open its doors Friday morning. These closures also apply to Tax Office and Clerk’s Office satellite locations in Bulverde and Sattler.
However, these offices remain open and employees can be reached by phone or via email to handle public inquiries and provide direction to possible online resources.
The county’s main switchboard number is 830-221-1100.
The closures come as the Office of Public Health continues to coordinate the county’s response to the coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19.
“We are encouraging our residents to take the guidelines issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention very seriously and to follow the orders issued by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday,” said Public Health Director Cheryl Fraser.
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Comal County had received reports from state and local laboratories of 25 tests conducted, including one positive result. The number of conducted tests is expected to increase as local labs increase their testing capacity.
