County Approves 2017 Budget

Comal County Commissioners Court on Tuesday set its tax rate to fund the 2017 budget at 34.29 cents per $100 of property value, unchanged for the fourth consecutive year.
The rate, equal to about $700 per year on a $200,000 home, will fund an $84.02 million budget, which was approved Aug. 23. Increasing property values and new construction have allowed the Commissioners Court to maintain or decrease the tax rate every year since 2012.
The budget will next be filed with the County Clerk’s Office, formally setting it in place for the 2017 calendar year.
“I’m grateful that Comal County continues to be a place where we can provide necessary services to our residents with as little impact to taxpayers as possible,” said County Judge Sherman Krause.
