County Wins Award for Statistics

Share

Comal County Clerk’s Office received a Five-Star Exemplary Award for vital statistics from the Texas Department of State Health Services at its annual conference Dec. 8.

Comal was one of just eight counties in the state to receive an exemplary rating.

The award recognizes vital-records registrars who meet a series of benchmarks regarding the processing of birth certificates and death certificates, as well as training and other forms of participation.

“This award affirms the commitment our staff has to high-quality, professional work as they manage vital records on the public’s behalf,” said Comal County Clerk Bobbie Koepp.

The state gave 20 exemplary awards to local registrars, 12 of them to cities and eight to counties. It is Comal County’s eighth exemplary award since 2004, and the 14th time since 2000 that the county has received a five-star award or higher from the Department of State Health Services.

The award was presented the department’s annual Vital Statistics Conference in Austin.

“We work hard every day to provide excellent customer service and professional management of the records in our care,” said Joni Wegman, Comal County vitals coordinator. “We’re grateful the state recognized our dedication with this award.”
