County Reports 21 New COVID-19 Cases Friday, Urges Caution over Labor Day Weekend

Residents wishing to be tested for COVID-19 can call the county’s dedicated hotline, 830-221-1120, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Comal County reported 21 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The seven-day positivity stands at 11.19%.

Of the new cases, 20 are confirmed and one is probable.

Twenty of the cases were reported in New Braunfels residents and one case was added south of Canyon Lake.

Three of the people who tested positive are younger than 20, two are in their 20s, two are in their 30s/40s, seven are in their 50s/60s and seven are older than 70.

In a statement, Public Health Director Cheryl Fraser cautioned people to “be mindful of the lessons learned from the Memorial Day and the July 4 holidays, where we had a big jump in the number of positive cases.”

The county now has 288 active confirmed-and-probable COVID-19 cases..

On Friday, Comal County hospitals reported caring for nine COVID-19 patients, three in intensive care and two on ventilators. Comal County confirmed 23 more recoveries from COVID-19 for a total of 2,672.

The total number of deceased stands at 111. There are 3,071 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Comal County since reporting began.
