County’s Positivity Rate Jumps to 9.35% as 12 New COVID-19 Cases Reported

Comal County’s positivity rate stands at 9.35% today after 12 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed by the Office of Public Health.
Of the new cases, six are confirmed and six are probable. There are 225 active confirmed-and-probable COVID-19 cases in the county. Of them, 20 are hospitalized. Another 37 COVID-19 recoveries were reported, for a total of 3,020 out of the 3,361 cases reported overall.
There are no new cases in nursing homes.
On Wednesday, Comal County hospitals reported caring for six COVID-19 patients; of those, three are in intensive care and three are on ventilators. Not all of these patients are necessarily county residents; likewise, not all county residents hospitalized with COVID-19 are in Comal County hospitals.
On Monday, the county’s seven-day positivity rate was 5.51%. On Tuesday it rose to 7.27%.

Probable Case Definition
“Probable cases” is a category established by the Texas Department of State Health Services to describe those who do not have a positive PCR test for COVID-19, but meet two of the following three criteria:
- A positive quick-result antigen test
- Experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
- Close contact with a confirmed positive COVID-19 case
