COVID-19 Deaths of Two Comal Residents in Their 60s, 46 New Cases Reported Friday

Comal County confirmed the COVID-19 deaths of two residents today and reported 46 new cases of the virus.

Dead are:

  • A north Comal County man in his 60s who died March 7 at a New Braunfels hospital.
  • A Spring Branch woman in her 60s who died Feb. 9 at a San Antonio hospital.

The total number of deceased is now 540. Some 30,405 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Comal County since March 2020.

Local hospitals today reported caring for four COVID-positive patients. Two are in intensive care and one is on a ventilator.

Sixty-seven percent of these patients are unvaccinated. Not all COVID-positive patients hospitalized in the county are necessarily county residents, the county said in a statement.

Some 63.86% of county residents are fully vaccinated (two shots).

Public Health is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines to anyone ages fives years and up. Booster vaccines are also available.
