The Comal County woman who died was in her 80s and died at home last weekend, the county said in a statment. A positive postmortem test was reported to the county's Office of Public Health (OPH) on Thursday, April 9. Her husband, who had been hospitalized in San Antonio with the disease, died overnight Tuesday.

One of the two new cases in Comal County is from New Braunfels, and one is from Bulverde. One is in their 40s and one in their 50s; both are home-isolated. The source of the respective infections remains under investigation by the Comal County Office of Public Health.

Comal County Judge Sherman Krause said the county has a location in mind and the equipment it needs to begin testing for COVID-19 next week. A physician's referral would be required.
Coronavirus Stay at Home Order
The order also requires the closure of all nonessential businesses, including river outfitters and short-term campgrounds. It comes after the county announced Wednesday that it would begin enforcing Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s statewide executive order mandating stay-at-home restrictions.

Comal County COVID-19 Statistics
With two deaths related to the coronavirus and five recoveries, four active COVID-19 cases remain in Comal County, two of them self-quarantined and two hospitalized out of the county.
USACE Covid-19 Response
To date, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has assessed four facilities in the Dallas area. At this time no plans to convert infrastructure in the Canyon Lake-area have been announced, USACE spokesperson Clay Church said.
The Comal County Emergency Relief Fund was created to provide a centralized navigation point that ensures everyone has access to the care they need. Its Multi-Agency Response Center (MARC) at the McKenna Events Center, 1801 W. San Antonio St., New Braunfels, opens on Wednesday, April 1.

Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County
WORD is a park-and-recreation district created by the Texas Legislature in 1987 and approved by Comal County voters in 1988. The district encompasses Canyon Lake and over 30 miles of floatable water on the Guadalupe River above and below Canyon Lake.

As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, Comal County has received reports of 92 COVID-19 tests conducted, including the seven positive results. Twenty-eight results are still pending, and 57 tests were negative.
