The Crisis Center of Comal County will honor area law enforcement and McKenna Foundation Chief Executive Officer Alice Jewell at Thursday’s Annual Candlelight Vigil for victims and survivors of domestic violence.
The vigil begins at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Main Plaza, 301 Main Plaza, in downtown New Braunfels. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“We are paying tribute to you and all of our law-enforcement departments that tirelessly serve even in the face of pandemics and political overtures,” the crisis center said on its Facebook page.
Law enforcement to be honored include Comal County Sheriff’s Office and Schertz, Cibolo, Bulverde, New Braunfels Police and Garden Ridge police departments.
The crisis center, located at 1547 E. Common St. in New Braunfels, provides victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse a safe, non-biased environment to make decisions about their future.
Thanks to a recent expansion, the group doubled its facility capacity from 40 to 80 beds.
