CRRC of Canyon Lake’s Senior Program temporarily relocated to St. Francis by the Lake this month while the nonprofit finishes the upstairs of its resource building.

The building that housed the senior center was badly damaged in a rainstorm last year, and replacing the roof and ceiling tiles and remediating mold was prohibitively expensive.

Seniors met temporarily in the Recreation Center’s concession area but the space proved inadequate.

CRRC board member Diane Schaule said that once the CRRC finishes the upstairs of its resource building, seniors will be welcomed back to their own space.

Furniture and equipment from the old center were sold off at a rummage sale today.

CRRC’s Senior Center provided monthly lunches for members and hosted mahjong, social time, movies day, potluck lunches and other activities.
