CVS Allocates 38,000 COVID-19 Vaccines to 70 Stores in Texas, Including Canyon Lake

CVS Health said today it will offer 250,00 total doses of COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible populations at pharmacy locations in 11 states beginning Feb. 11.

Seventy stores in Texas will receive 38,000 vaccinations, the company said in a press release. The Austin-American Statesman reports the Canyon Lake CVS in Startzville is one of four Central Texas communities included in the initial rollout.

Appointments will become available for booking as early as — but not before — Feb. 9 as stores receive shipment.

Vaccines in a retail setting will be offered on an appointment-only basis via CVS.com or through the CVS pharmacy app. For more information call 1-800-746-7287.

Other cities in line for the vaccine include San Antonio, Abilene, Amarillo, Beaumont, Brownsville, El Paso, Houston, Laredo, Lubbock, Midland, Plano and Waco.

The vaccines are sourced directly from the federal government through the pharmacy partnership program. As more supply becomes available, CVS will expand its vaccine rollout to other states while increasing the number of stores offering vaccinations.

“Our presence in communities across the country makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient and familiar manner,” said Karen Lynch, president and chief executive officer of CVS Health. “This is particularly true for underserved communities, which have been a focus throughout the pandemic.”

CVS said its long-term care vaccination effort remains on schedule. The first round of vaccine doses was administered to nearly 8,000 skilled nursing facilities and second doses are more than 60-percent complete.

First doses at all long-term care facilities that selected CVS Health to provide COVID-19 vaccinations — more than 40,000 total — will be complete by mid-February.

Most states chose activation dates for assisted living and other facilities well into January, which prevented earlier scheduling of clinics.

As supply becomes available the company will expand its vaccination clinics to other communities and will offer additional appointmens.

My BF& I live in Canyon Lake village shores.I have been here 33 years,he has been here 11..We are both 70 I didn’t realize that Covid shots were being given at the local CVS,until we pulled up & saw the parking lot full of people one day..I went on line to see if we could get booked .Sadly everything is booked. We have not seen family members, for a couple of years now, because of other serious surgeries & then the pandemic. We double mask &even wear gloves. & social distance except to go food shopping, the doctors, or pick up meds. Our only vehicle needs some work ,so we don’t drive all over anymore either. We would get the J&J one shot if it were available here. Please,Please, give us some guidance as to when & where we can get shots nearby.
