Cyber Camp for Teens

Share

Friday, June 17 is application deadline for Cyber Camp, a five-day technology event for students in grades 7-12.

The camp, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 27-July 31, teaches students new to cyber-security about STEM career opportunities and focuses on cyber defense skills.

Classes are at Memorial Early College High School, 1419 N. Business in New Braunfels and at Smithson Valley High School, 14001 Hwy 46 West in Spring Branch.

For more information, contact Keven.harshbarger@comalisd.org or call 830-885-1000 (Smithson) or 830-221-2901 (New Braunfels).

Students learn how to protect personal devices and information from outside threats, as well as how to harden entire networks running Windows 7 and Ubuntu operating systems.

Daily sessions include instructor demonstration, team-oriented research, hands-on lab activities, plus peer team building.

Cyber Camp culminates in a team competition that simulate real cyber-security situations faced by industry professionals. It mimics AFA’s CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.

Between 30 and 50 students will be selected for each camp.
