Derscheid Named New Executive Director of Canyon Lake’s CRRC

Jason Derscheid, executive director at The HeartGift Foundation in San Antonio, is the new executive director of the Community Resource and Recreation Center of Canyon Lake (CRRC).
He replaces Darin Zumwalt, who stepped down on April 27 to become senior pastor at Shiner First United Methodist Church.
Before joining HeartGift in 2017, Derscheid served as executive director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) South Texas Affiliate; program director and senior district executive of Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council; and district executive for the Boy Scouts of America, Southeast Louisiana Council.
He graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor’s degree in music industry studies.
The non-profit CRRC is the Canyon Lake area’s preeminent charity. Services include an emergency food pantry, Meals on Wheels, financial crisis assistance, medical equipment loan program, job counseling, mental health services, thrift store and an active recreational center.
