Divers with the Houston Police Department and Harris County recovered the body of 25-year-old Luis Alexis Rodriguez at 5 p.m. today in Party Cove near Canyon Lake Boat Ramp #7, not far from where he was reported missing on Saturday after he jumped out of a boat to cool off.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Captain Game Warden Javier Fuentes, who was out on the water on a patrol vessel today, confirmed the discovery.
Earlier, he thanked Houston-based divers for bringing the special equipment required to search for Rodriguez, whose body was believed to be possibly entangled in 50-foot tall trees at water depths of up to 90 feet.
Divers relied on an underwater remote-operated vehicle (ROV) with 360-degree scan capabilities.
Fuents said law enforcement on Wednesday picked up a possible “target” using sonar in the area where Rodriguez was last seen by friends.
Waters there were too deep for TPWD to operate, and Houston divers were called in for assistance.
