A 52-year-old Blanco man killed in a head-on car collision near Fischer Monday has been identified as Sean Patrick McCutchen.
Sgt. Orlando Moreno, public information officer with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), said McCutchen was behind the wheel of 2015 Jeep Wrangler and driving in a no-passing zone when he attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him.
McCutchen, who was traveling westbound on FM 32 around 5:30 p.m., was struck head-on by 19-year-old Fischer resident Levi Stewart Mason of Fischer, who was driving eastbound in a 2020 Ford F-350.
Mason was uninjured but McCutchen, who was pulled from his vehicle by witnesses before it caught fire, was pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS said the accident occurred three miles from Fischer.
“The investigation is ongoing and all contributing factors are not yet known,” Moreno said. “The Texas Department of Public Safety would like to remind all drivers to obey traffic control devices, minimize distractions, and don’t exceed the speed limit.
A crash report will be posted at texas.gov once the investigation is completed.
