Democratic Women of Comal County (DWCC) is accepting donations for asylum seekers along the border in Laredo/Nuevo Laredo.
The public can drop off supplies from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Comal County Democratic Headquarters, 1592 E. San Antonio St., New Braunfels.
Donation requests include diapers, pull-ups, baby wipes, baby bottles, extra bottle nipples, baby washcloths, baby food pouches/packets (no jars), powdered infant formula, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, sanitary napkins (no tampons), hairbrushes, combs, shampoo, hair ties, scrunchies, lip balm, children’s underwear, children’s clothing, children’s tennis shoes, socks, women’s underwear, adult long-sleeve shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, lightweight sweaters.
In a statement, DWCC said increasing numbers of Central Americans — especially mothers, babies and older children — are arriving to find chaotic conditions at the U.S border.
“DWCC joins several organizations to help provide needed personal items for asylum seekers in Laredo/Nuevo, many of whom present at the border with nothing,” DWCC said.
