Early Voting for July Primary Runoff to Take Place at CRRC

Comal County Elections Coordinator Cynthia Jaqua, second from left at a 2017 ribbon-cutting ceremony, said the county is having difficulty finding polling locations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elections Coordinator Cynthia Jaqua told Comal County Commissioners Court on Thursday the Canyon Lake community will be happy to learn that early voting for the July primary runoff election will take place at the Community Resource and Recreation Center of Canyon Lake (CRRC) in Sattler.

“I think that will make the Canyon Lake community very happy that now they’ll be back to their old stomping grounds,” she said.

However others aren’t as happy about turning their venues over to potentially thousands of people during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Jacqua said the county is having difficulty finding polling locations.

The county is following Gov. Greg Abbott’s instructions and order regaring ballot-by-mail she said.

Some 1,700 residents applied to vote by mail during the primary election. That number has risen to 2,800 for the runoff.

“A lot of the older people in the county are now going to vote by mail for the November and July election,” she said.

Meanwhile, county election officials are busy disinfecting and sanitizing equipment for the July runoff.
