Event Details

Watch New Braunfels Astronomy Club focus Tye Preston Memorial Library Observatory’s Celestron Schmidt Cassegrain telescope on International Observe the Moon Night, an annual worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation and understanding of the moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration.

Observe the Moon Night connects scientists, educators and lunar enthusiasts from around the world and is sponsored by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission and partners. LRO is managed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

On regular Astronomy Nights at Tye Preston Memorial Library, members of the club set up their scopes nearby. All are invited into the library for a presentation about that nights’ skies, then up to the observatory for an evening under the stars.  If weather conditions prevent the use of telescopes, then there are more astronomical presentations inside.

Tye Preston Memorial Library is located at 16311 S. Access Rd., Canyon Lake.
