Lighting fireworks is legal in unincorporated Comal County, Canyon Lake, and Bulverde/Spring Branch.
Fireworks are illegal at all Canyon Lake lakefront parks and boat ramps, which are owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Fireworks are not permitted inside Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Guadalupe River State Park in Spring Branch.
Fireworks are banned in New Braunfels and Garden Ridge.
Comal County offers these tips for fireworks safety:
- Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks, including sparklers.
- Only purchase and set off fireworks that are labeled for consumer (not professional) use.
- Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishap.
- Light fireworks one at a time, then move back quickly.
- Never try to relight or handle malfunctioning fireworks. Soak them with water and throw them away,
- Never point or throw fireworks (including sparklers) at anyone.
- After fireworks have completed their burning, douse the spent device with plenty of water from a bucket or hose before discarding it.
The public also is asked to be mindful of neighbors who might be veterans and dogs who are sensitive to noise.
The burn ban is off, but under state law, fireworks cannot be banned during a burn ban. Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) rules apply.
