Cases of flu and influenza-like illnesses are on the rise in Comal County.
Between Feb. 20-26, health care providers and schools reported 843 cases of both flu and influenza-like illnesses. Fifty-five of those cases were Flu A and 4 were Flu B.
“Flu cases are rising,” Comal County’s Public Health Department said in a statement. “Your best defense against influenza is vaccination. Get your flu shot today.”
By law, the reporting of individual cases of the illnesses is not mandatory. Public Health relies on providers and schools to report cases voluntarily.
