Fourth of July Festivities
Celebrate America’s birthday in two towns full of VFW values and on a lake bejeweled with spectacular fireworks.
27th Annual Fourth of July Parade (Canyon Lake)
At 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, over 40 dignitaries, individuals and organizations will parade down FM 2673 from Old Cranes Mill Road through downtown Startzville before finishing at the event’s sponsor, Startzville Memorial VFW Post 8800, 7755 FM 2673.
VFW will sell raffle tickets and serve up hamburgers and hotdogs after the parade.
Reminder from Sgt. Ricardo Cardenas Sr. with Comal County Sheriff’s office:
“FM 2673 will be closed tomorrow at 10:00 AM from Tom Creek through Old Sattler Rd. for the Fourth of July Parade that will commence at 11:00 AM 1 July 2017, for the Startzville Parade so that those that plan on traveling can make plans as needed.
Have Safe 4th of July.”
Canyon Lake’s 5th Annual Independence Day Party & Fireworks Show
Over at Canyon Lake’s Turkey Cove, Boat Ramp #2, festivities for this popular (and crowded) event kick off at 7 p.m. Monday, July 3. Live music starts at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at 8:45 p.m. Show lasts for 30 to 45 minutes and includes a grand finale.
To view the show on land, bring chairs, drinks and a flashlight. To watch the show from the lake, contact Hill Country Yacht Club or byoboat.
Old Time 4th of July Parade, Patriotic Program & Fireworks (New Braunfels)
Happy Birthday, America! Wear your most star-spangled attire and join the party! The Sophienburg Museum presents the perfect small-town parade followed by a patriotic program on Main Plaza in downtown New Braunfels. The parade kicks off at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 4 with a flyover by Commemorative Air Force. Bring the family, your lawn chairs and enjoy plenty of flag waving and patriotic music to celebrate America’s birthday!
Later, City of New Braunfels also hosts an annual Fourth of July Fireworks display.
Festivities kick off at 6:30 p.m. at the Landa Park Dance Slab with a free concert featuring Kori Free and The Groove Hounds.
The sky lights u with the annual fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Residents and visitors are encouraged to tune in to KGNB 1420 AM to listen to the live broadcast of patriotic music timed to accompany the fireworks display.
“We invite everyone to enjoy the annual firework spectacular. The fireworks will be fired from Landa Lake in Landa Park and are viewable from surrounding areas including, Landa Park, Fredericksburg Fields and the Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs – these will all be great viewing sites,” said Stacey Dicke, Parks and Recreation Director.
Seating will be available on the Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs for fireworks viewing starting at 6:00 p.m. Fireworks viewers will not be allowed to sit on putting greens.
In observance of the holiday, the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office and Landa Recreation Center will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th. The Landa Park Aquatic Complex will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Landa Park Boathouse will be open from noon until 7:00 p.m. and the Fischer Park Nature Education Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs will be open from 6:00 a.m. and close at 2:00 p.m. for preparation for the evening fireworks display, the first 120 golfers will have an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start for public play, there will be no tee times.
The annual fireworks show is presented by the City of New Braunfels and H-E-B and sponsored KGNB 1420 AM.
