9 p.m. May 31 Breaking news:

Due to heavy rains, the Comal River in New Braunfels is temporarily closed to all recreation.

With more rain forecast over the next several days the river conditions will be monitored to determine when the Comal River can be reopened to recreation.

According to Comal County Sheriff, River Road is closed to through traffic due to water damage to the roadway.

The Guadalupe River Bridge in Gruene has reopened, but City of New Braunfels urges residents and tourists to use alternate routes as the bridge could close again at any time.

Do not drive around barricades — it’s the law. City crews and public safety officials continue to monitor low-water crossings.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for all of South Central Texas through Thursday morning. Heavy rainfall will likely lead to an increasing flash flood threat across all of South-Central Texas through at least Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Heightened awareness from all South Central Texas residents and is very important, particularly in low-lying areas. Citizens and visitors should monitor changing weather conditions through local media outlets.
