House of CBD Helps Canyon Lake Residents Cope with Pain, Stress, Anxiety, Depression and PTSD

General Manager, House of CBD
Is the COVID-19 pandemic making you feel stressed, anxious or depressed?
Or maybe these are things you’ve dealt with even before any of us heard of the virus.
If you’re like me, maybe you’re trying to recover from or deal with ongoing medical issues that regular pharmaceuticals don’t help you with.
My name is Joshua Humerickhouse and I am the general manager of House of CBD, which opened in Canyon Lake on March 11. We’re very proud to be a part of the Canyon Lake community and I’d like to tell you a bit more about myself and why we stand behind our products.
On Jan. 17, 2019, I was involved in a work-related accident that left me hospitalized for four days.
I fell off a ladder at a height of 15 feet. I fell onto straight concrete, fracturing my skull, orbital (eye), face, and sustained six compression fractures in my spine.
I spent three months recovering, while in excruciating pain. The doctors just kept prescribing opioids and other cocktails of prescription medications. The side effects of all the medications were on a whole new level of health problems for my body.
Several months passed as I tried to get through the pain, side effects, and recovery. During one of my many doctor visits and tests, I found out I had two herniated discs in my spine.
This was a result of the work-related accident.
I was told I would have chronic back pain for the rest of my life. I was barely starting my life as a college student. I left the doctor’s office feeling completely defeated. I knew this couldn’t be the “only way” to help my body heal and get relief from the constant pain.
That Week I Ran Out of Hydrocodone
On purpose, I went cold turkey and spent the next two weeks in withdrawal. It was awful. There aren’t words to explain the shock my body suffered. I made a decision that I would no longer take the pain medications offered by my doctors.
That is when I began looking for an alternative option. After a lot of research and speaking with friends, family, and anyone that would listen, I found CBD. CBD has zero side effects. CBD gave me my life back! CBD allowed me to control the pain and I was able to return to work and school.
My personal experience is what has given me the drive to help others who are in similar situations as my story.
Let me explain a bit about CBD — we sell a very wide range of products that can improve your quality of life, like they did mine, and probably help you cope with other problems you might be experiencing.
“Our products include cartridges, CBD vape juice, chocolate, coconut oil, dietary supplements, gummies, hemp flower, honey sticks, pets products, pre-rolls, protein bars, tinctures, topicals, water, drinks, sunscreen, RTIC coolers, RTIC tote bags, RTIC coffee cups, and RTIC tumblers.”
What Is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol, a compound extracted from cannabis plants, and the main compound found in the hemp plant. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a crystalline compound that is the main active ingredient of cannabis, CBD is not psychoactive, so it does not change a person’s state of mind when they use it.
Proven benefits include:
- Reduce pain by binding to CB1 receptors while reducing swelling
- Reduce social anxiety, cognitive impairment, and discomfort in patients diagnosed with Generalized Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
- Decrease cancer spread by “turning off” genes involved in tumor development
- Combat neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s by removing plaque that block neuron-signaling
- Reduces cigarette addiction by modulating the rewarding the effects of nicotine
- Improves sleep quality and restore respiratory stability to those experiencing sleep Apnea
- Clears acne by inhibiting lipid synthesis on the skin
- Regulates blood sugar and lowers insulin resistance
- Provide relief to those suffering from IBD (Chron’s or Colitis) through its anti-inflammatory effects
- Improves symptoms of MS (multiple sclerosis) by providing durable protection to neurons
- Prevents obesity. Several follow up studies have shown CBD usage is associated with smaller waist circumference
Do CBD Products Contain THC?
CBD products must contain less than 0.3% THC to be legal according to Federal Law.
Is CBD Legal?
CBD that is extracted from hemp and contains less than 0.3% THC is legal at the federal level with the passage of the Farm Bill in late 2018. Each state also has its own law regarding the legality of CBD and therefore the legality of CBD products can vary from state to state.
What Is CBD Used For?
People are finding that CBD is useful for many conditions that have not responded well to conventional treatments. New ailments that CBD can help treat are being discovered every day.
What Is THC?
THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, the main compound found in marijuana plants. THC is what gives marijuana its psychoactive properties or “high” effects.
Are CBD and Marijuana from the Same Cannabis Plant?
No, CBD and marijuana come from different plants. They do, however, come from the same species of the cannabis plant. There are three recognized species of cannabis plants—Cannabis sativa, Cannabis Indica and Cannabis ruderalis. Both CBD and marijuana are derived from the Cannabis sativa species. While CBD and marijuana both come from the same species of the cannabis plant, they are derived from different species of Cannabis sativa. CBD is derived from hemp, while marijuana is derived from the marijuana species.
How Long Does It Take for CBD to Take Effect?
The length of time it takes for CBD to take effect will depend on the route of administration. The fastest effect will be felt from smoking or vaporization (onset of effects in minutes). Topical administration of CBD will be felt quickly as well. The next fastest effect will be felt from a sublingual dosage (onset of effects in 15 – 60 minutes). The slowest effect (but the longest lasting) will be felt from oral ingestion (onset felt in 90 minutes).
What Is the Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?
Hemp and marijuana are different species of Cannabis sativa and bred for different purposes. Industrial hemp is exclusively produced by Cannabis sativa, while marijuana can be derived from Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica. Both hemp and marijuana contain CBD, but there’s a much higher percentage in hemp. Hemp also has much lower levels of THC (less than 0.3%) than the marijuana species.
Industrial hemp is grown to be durable, have very long stalks and as few flowering buds as possible. This can make it easier to extract the high amounts of CBD and smaller amounts of THC.
Hemp’s chemical profile means that you can’t get “high” from it, and can be used to create medicinal remedies, food and oil, as well as other products, including rope, bricks, natural polymers, fiber, clothes and many more.
Marijuana strains of cannabis are typically smaller, flimsier and have many flowering buds with the sole purpose of maximizing the concentration of THC. Marijuana is used recreationally and medicinally.
