Dive teams from Houston Police Department and Harris County are in Canyon Lake this morning, searching for the body of 25-year-old Luis Alexis Rodriguez, who drowned Saturday in Canyon Lake.

They will be using more-advanced sonar equipment that Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), which is spearheading the search, doesn’t have, said Kirk McDonnell with TPWD’s press office.

“All units will be on location at 9:30 a.m. at Canyon Lake Boat Ramp 7,” he said.

On Tuesday, Rodriguez’ family criticized law enforcement for not doing enough to find their missing loved one.

“We’re all trying to get all the help we can,” said cousin Vanessa Vargas.

On Tuesday, Canyon Lake Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Justin Lowth said searchers with the fire department, Comal County Sheriff’s Office and TPWD would rotate crews during the search.

If HPD & divers still cannot locate this young man, then I suggest retaining Gene and Sandy Ralston for the recovery of this body. They are experts in finding drowned victims.
