How High Will the Guadalupe River Rise Today? Comal County Website Predicts Flow Rates

Comal County's GIS Hub River Flow web page provides realtime and predictive flow rates along the Guadalupe River in Kerr, Kendall and Comal counties. This screen grab is not current.

How and when will overnight heavy rains in Kerrville impact today’s flow rates along the Guadalupe River at Spring Branch?

In 2023, then-Comal County Engineer Tom Hornseth unveiled a new feature on his website, cceo.org, that allows users to access U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) predictions for flow rates at all monitoring locations on the Guadalupe River.

“These are the tools you can use to start forecasting what might be happening on the river,” Hornseth said. “And when we do have an extreme event, which we will some day, these are really handy tools to try to see exactly how crazy things might get in the future because these predictions are usually pretty good.”

That will change quickly.
