Hundreds of Comal County residents are expected at the ‘No Kings’ protest 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 28 at Main Plaza, 500 Main Plaza, the center of historic downtown New Braunfels.
Organizer Hunter Bledsoe with Hill Country Indivisible said there will be no march. Protesters carrying signs will walk counterclockwise to traffic on the sidewalk around the circle.
Others will stand on sidewalks in the downtown square.
Speakers include scientist Kristen Hook, the Democrat running against former MLB star and Republican Mark Texeira in the race for Texas’ 21st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives; Democrat Merrie Fox, a former educator and executive director for Circle Arts Theatre who is running against incumbent Republican Carrie Isaac for Texas Senate District 25; Lynn Silver, a columnist for the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung; and New Braunfels resident Bruce Carpenter, a local activist and author whose ‘Thinking Deeply’ substack focuses on democracy and the rule of law.
Bledsoe said there will be a police presence at the event.
Nationwide, around seven million Americans turned out for a No Kings Protest in October and millions more are expected Saturday.
Co-executive director of the nonprofit Indivisible, Ezra Levin, predicts this third round of No Kings protests could turn out to be the largest in American history.
Over 3,000 events are scheduled across the country.
“We are all united in this fight to save our democracy from this administration, and we will win. From every corner of this country, we are all saying: NO KINGS,” he said in a statement.
