Sharon Willingham, part-time library assistant at Tye Preston Memorial Library, died in a car accident Sunday.
The library will close from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday so that staff and volunteers can attend visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church Canyon Lake, 13085 FM 306. A celebration of life service follows immediately afterwards. The church will host a luncheon at noon.
Interment is scheduled for Friday, for family only.
Library Director Roxanna Deane said Willingham was a library volunteer who was hired part time in May 2015.
“It is amazing to me that she was part time as she did so many things that you would swear she must work at least 40 hours per week,” Deane posted on the library’s Facebook page. “Sharon was kind, caring, smart and organized. We miss her.”
According to an obituary on legacy.com, Willingham also adored children, teapots, cats and dogs, and “Willie and Elvis.”
She was born in Purcell, Oklahoma and worked for Scripps-Howard newspapers for 30 years, most notably at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.
Willingham is survived by her husband of 33 years, James Willingham; daughter Andi Feille and husband Robert; son Lorn Willingham; grandchildren Alli Feille, Jack Feille, James Willingham, and Chelsea Willingham; brother Ron Morris and wife Patti; brother Jerry Morris; and sister Vickie McLeod and husband Kevin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church Canyon Lake or Tye Preston Memorial Library.
There is such a heaviness in our hearts today to hear of this news. She will be missed. Our family wishes her family comfort and peace during this terrible time.
