Lockdown Lifted after Shooting at Comal ISD’s Hill Country College Preparatory High School

Comal County Sheriff’s Office says one person suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital this morning after a shooting at Comal ISD’s Hill Country College Preparatory High School (HCCPHS), 3615 Mustang Vista, Bulverde.

The building is now secure and staff and students were transported by bus to Bulverde Middle School, 29975 Wiley Rd., Bulverde.

Comal ISD Spokesperson Salwa Lanford said a lockdown was activated at 8:34 a.m. today.

“Reunification” is underway. Parents and guardians will need a photo ID and be listed in Skyward as eligible to pick up their students. They can only pick up their student.

“Please note, reunification may take some time,” she said in a statement. “Please be patient with our staff and law enforcement. No one will be allowed back to the HCCPHS campus for belongings or parked cars until law enforcement officials release the campus.”

CCSO is assisting Bulverde police in the ongoing investigation.

HCCPHS is a school of choice with a strong focus on academics and college-readiness skills.
