Experts with the nonprofit Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance (GEAA) will discuss Lennar Homes’ controversial Broken Cedar Ranch Development in Fischer from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Tye Preston Memorial Library, 16311 S. Access Rd., Canyon Lake.
The meeting is sponsored by ‘Let’s Talk Canyon Lake,’ a group of Comal Democrats who meet monthly to discuss issues important to the Canyon Lake community.
GEAA represents Fischer Neighbors, the community group fighting to keep the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) from granting Lennar Homes a wastewater permit for a 600,000 gallon-per-day treatment facility for the proposed subdivision.
Southside Canyon Lake resident Russell Marinelli organized the Let’s Talk Canyon Lake forums specifically for residents living in unincorporated areas of the county.
“Lennar Homes — famous for bulldozing everything on the property — is planning to develop an area in the Fischer area,” he said on social media. “The Broken Cedar Ranch development would include hundreds of homes. Everyone is welcome to attend to learn the permitting process involved. Think about the stress on the water supply, affects to wildlife, stress on the environment and increased traffic on rural roads.”
