Sebastian Reign Perez and Adonias Ezra made local history Thursday, becoming the first babies born in 2026 at New Braunfels area hospitals.

Little Sebastian made his entrance at Resolute Baptist Hospital at 11:31 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, weighing in at 8 pounds and 3 ounces. He measured 20.5 inches long.
Parents Abigail Ybarra, 29, and Ricardo Perez, 35, said in a statement they were surprised to deliver the hospital’s first newborn of the year and grateful for a healthy baby boy.
“I’ve lived my whole life in New Braunfels and I love it,” Ybarra said. “All three of my sons were born at Resolute Baptist Hospital, where we have always received fabulous care from the staff.”
Adonias Ezra became CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital-New Braunfels’ first 2026 baby at 9:47 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1.
In a statement, the hospital said parents Shelby and Johan Ezra greeted him “with so much love” and “marked a joyful beginning to the New Year for his family and our care team.”
