With COVID-19 cases spiking in New Braunfels, Mayor Rusty Brockman on Wednesday urged residents and businesses to get used to a “new normal” and make masks, social distancing and diligent handwashing part of their everyday routines.

In a statement posted to his Facebook page, Brockman said the best way to flatten New Braunfels’ curve is to commit to these safe practices.

“Following these simple guidelines can have a major impact on slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” he said.

Brockman also said businesses have a responsibility to help curb the transmission in their establishments by following state guidelines and additional requirements from their licensing agency.

“It’s imperative that they provide a safe and healthy environment for their patrons and for their employees,” he said.
