Officers with the New Braunfels Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit discovered $1 million worth of cocaine in a hidden compartment in the floor of a black GMC pickup truck they pulled over Friday in the 700 block of I-35 north.
The female driver of the truck, identified as 21-year-old Maria Elena Rojas of Del Rio, and a male passenger, identified as 47-year-old Gustavo Licea-Feregrino of Del Rio, were both detained and transferred into the custody of Homeland Security to face federal drug possession charges.
Seguin Police Department’s K-9 unit was called in to assist during the traffic stop in the northbound main lanes of the highway, and officers located 44 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of approximately $1 million.
