Comal County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Jennifer Saunders said on Facebook today she will not seek a sixth term in office.

The filing deadline for the March 2022 Republican primary ends Dec. 13.

Long-term Comal County resident and Republican Mike Britt, owner and operator of Britt Claims and Consulting Services announced his candidacy for the position on Nov. 10.

Saunders served as presiding judge of the Precinct 4 Justice Court for 20 years, capping off four decades of public service in that court.

She began her career as court clerk in 1979 and was elected as a justice of the peace in 2002.

“I have worked my entire career to ensure that everyone received fair and impartial treatment and it is my hope that my time here will reflect that,” she said in a statement.

Saunders urged residents to “research the new candidates and find the best fit for the community.”
