Canyon Lake Community Plant Swap runs from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at the CRRC Rec Center, 125 Mabel Jones Dr. Masks are required.
A socially distanced, complimentary breakfast follows.
Jo Ed Lyles and the CRRC Community Garden team will discuss plans for the garden, which produces over 1,000 pounds of produce for the food pantry.
Volunteers also will advise on growing home gardens.
According to organizers, this is a plant swap, not a sale.
“Here’s how the exchange is conducted,” they posted on Facebook. “Goal is to give everyone a chance to walk around, see what’s available, and discuss swaps without touching anything. Once everyone has walked around, we break and swaps happen.”
Based on timing, swap will feature late fall crops, herbs and ornamental/house plants.
Pop-up tables or open trunks are recommended for displaying plants. Donation jars are allowed (for example, if a child is trying to raise money for a computer by selling plants).
Participants are asked to park in every other space to maintain social distancing.
